Christmas 2022

I have a few minutes to wish everyone a very merry Christmas. I hope you have all found some time away from your modelling benches and with your family or friends in this dark month (dark for most people). My family happens to celebrate Christmas, with a tree and gifts and turkey and everything. I confess I enjoy the whole shebang, with the possible exception of the Elf on the Shelf, the creator of which I hope will serve penance through eternity by waking in the middle of every night and wondering if they remembered to move the flaming Elf!

This year, thanks to putting things on a wish list, there were a number of railroad items under the tree. Some scenery materials will soon cover the pasture’s barren ground. And a SPROG3 DCC computer interface is the first step in my train control masterplan.

Moreover, my brother made the trip out to Burnstown Road and shot 54 photographs of the copse beside the pasture. Shot in December, these photos show the structure of the trees, and will form the inspiration if not reference for the armatures when I get started on those. They’re uploading now, and I’ll share them here when they’re available.

  1. I’m going to be paying close attention to the SPROG3 DCC project. I’ve been -s–l—o—w–l-y- learning about Raspberry pies and Arduino’s . . . but this is new to me.
