Now that I have Percy operational, and most of the turnout controls are in, I am starting to turn my thoughts once again to operations. The layout doesn’t operate well enough to share it with others yet, so Marc Simpson is in no danger of losing the bet. However, it won’t get any better if I leave it to sit, and running back and forth purposelessly is starting to wear thin.
So last night, rather than hauling a random selection of cars, I ran Number 45, the morning mixed train to Golden Lake. This morning, while waiting for a meeting to start, I ran the branch passenger back. I don’t yet have a method for car forwarding, so the mixed was pretty light on freight traffic. However, it was much more fun to run with purpose, even if I was the only one who knew about it.
I feel a log book or at least a paper clip on the side of a page coming on. Perhaps there should be two: a clearance book for Pembroke and a register for Golden Lake.
