“Sounds fiddly,” my darling wife said when she heard the plan to fill the space between turnout controls with half-inch channel. Boy, did she get that right!
Despite the provision of recesses on the sides of the turnout controls allowing for 1/16″ of overlap, every single piece – there are ten so far – needed filing. Then, two of them are curved in gentle S-curves.
I’m not sure if I like it as much as I thought I would. Perhaps once everything is painted black, it will look better.
I thought you were going to run a continuous strip along the bottom of the fascia. Any plans to finish the channel or will you leave it raw?
It’s going to be black with black controls like Hotblack Desiato’s stuntship.
Is the channel vinyl? Any tricks to get it to bend around those curves?
It’s aluminum. I cut it part-way through every 6mm. I’m planning to use auto body filler to fill the gaps in the vertical curve. The horizontal curve is only cut at the back so I’m less concerned.
